STREAS’s welding department represents a true point of excellence in the manufacture of high-precision joints, thanks to established know-how and state-of-the-art technologies.
We specialize in the welding of stainless steels and special alloys, with advanced expertise in TIG welding of AISI 304 and AISI 316 steels, enabling us to obtain uniform, defect-free beads with high reliability over time.
This is complemented by our specific experience in welding aluminum alloys, a complex material that requires technical expertise and extreme precision. This ability enables us to successfully tackle even the most critical applications, always guaranteeing superior results.
TIG and orbital welding technology: precision, traceability and specialization
The use of state-of-the-art TIG welding machines, both manual and automatic, enables extremely precise control of process parameters, ensuring consistent quality and reliability.
Automatic systems, equipped with numerical control, ensure process repeatability and allow recording of welding parameters for each individual part, an essential element for traceability in the most critical applications.
One area of particular specialization is closed-chamber orbital welding on VCR-type microfittings, an advanced technology that requires specific skills and dedicated equipment. This process allows the fabrication of hermetic joints on small components, ensuring absolute tightness even in ultra-vacuum or high-pressure conditions.
Aluminum alloy welding: precision and advanced control
The department is equipped to weld aluminum alloys, thanks to specialized procedures that consider the technical and thermal peculiarities of these particularly sensitive materials.
The welders used are equipped with advanced pulsed current control systems to optimize bead penetration and minimize thermal deformation, ensuring precise, stable and high-quality joints even on complex components.
Welding qualification: certified competence and international standards
Welding procedures are qualified according to the strictest international standards, with Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) dedicated to each type of joint and application.
All of our welders are certified in accordance with current regulations and participate in an ongoing training program designed to maintain a high level of competence and ensure the adoption of the most advanced technologies available in the industry.
Quality control of welds in STREAS is performed by nondestructive testing, including thorough visual inspections and liquid penetrant testing, to detect any imperfections or discontinuities.
Special attention is paid to surface preparation prior to welding and post-welding treatments, which are essential to ensure corrosion resistance and joint durability.
For vacuum applications, welds are also tested by Helium Leak Test to verify the absolute tightness of the joint.
